It’s a Nerd War! To reiterate Nerd War is our competition of who should be named best Marvel character of 2011/12! Each week one of us will nominate a character and give you a summary of their origins, love interests, and personality. The person who nominated the character will be on the For side for the character to go through, where as the other person will be against! This is a debate – and only the best will survive! It doesn’t matter if the character is good or evil, human, mutate, alien, mutant or the Juggernaut. They just have to be a Marvel Character. But with loads of characters, it might be a long wait before we get to round two 
.
This week X1 nominates Black Widow!
Origin: It was rumored that Natasha Romanoff (Natalia Romanova) was somehow related to the last ruling czars of Russia, but was never proven. Nothing else was known about her prior to World War II. Nazis set the building Natasha was in on fire in Stalingrad, and her mother threw her out the window to a Russian soldier before dying in the fire. The soldier’s name was Ivan Petrovitch, and he watched over Natasha for her entire life, to this day remaining by her side as her chauffeur. While under Ivan’s protection, many adversaries attempted to attack her. Baron von Stucker abducted Natasha and presented her to the Hand in Madripoor. There, she was to become their Master Assassin until Captain America, Logan, and Ivan saved her. As Natasha grew and matured, she proved to be an amazing athlete and scholar, while gaining distinction in the USSR as a ballerina. Eventually, she married Alexi Shostakov, a distinguished Soviet test pilot.
Love Interest: Natasha has fallen in love and been in relationships with the following men: Alexi Shostakov, Hawkeye, Daredevil (=FAIL) and Bucky Cap.
Personality: Natasha is a feisty Auburn (though she looks more like a red-head) with a bad-ass personality. She’s one of those women who will willingly kill you and not cry into her cornflakes. Saying that, Nathasha can come across as cold, and frankly, she’s a bit of a loner. But, you don’t wanna mess with this girl – she will cut YOU!
Powers and Abilitles: Natasha hasn’t got any special powers but she does have an artificially enhanced physiolgy: Peak Human Strength; Peak Human Speed; Peak Human Agility; Peak Human Reflexes; Peak Human Durability; Peak Human Senses; Peak Human Immune System; Extended Longevity.

| Nathasha is one of the best SHIELD agents that Marvel has ever created, in my opinion, she’s also one of the best reformed villains as well (just falling behind our favourite hussy Emma Frost). Black Widow is feisty, if you mess with her man – she will kill you, if you mess with her family – she will kill you, if you mess with her friends – she will kill you, and if you mess with her – she most definitley cut off your head and feed your guts to the animals. The thing that I like most about Natasha, is that she will kick your ass and not feel bad about it, she’s also pretty handy with a gun. She doesn’t need a man to protect her, her man needs her to protect him! Okay, I guess her love life hasn’t been the best, she’s had a string of me after her, but this chick doesn’t age! But then again, that doesn’t excuse her from dating the total frat boy Daredevil, I don’t fricking care if he’s fricking blind and that he fricking relies on his other senses, the guy is such an asshole! So, I’m sorry Nat, but I’m going to have to knock of a few points because of that repulsive relationship. Oh, I might have to knock of another point due to her relationship with Hawkeye, who happens to be an inconsiderate jerk! Sorry to break it to ya Nat, but you have pretty bad taste in guys. But, considering that, she can still kick your ass. With her sexy figure and sophisticated costume, she definitley gets points for bad-assery, the girl looks hot while fighting in a not too revealing suit! | She may not have any powers, but she is such a skilled Marvel character. As was mentioned, she is not scared to kill someone or to hurt someone; this does give her advantage as she won’t take forever to get the job done. With her love life being quite a puzzle I will have to drop some points off too, first of all who in their right mind would date Hawkeye (eurgh) Don’t get me started on Daredevil. I have to say I loved Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal, I thought she was a bad-ass Black Widow; the only problem was there was no Russian accent! Anyway back to Natasha, she seems to be quite a professional girl but when it comes to it she can be quite funny. Luckily she is not scared of braking a nail or two. Don’t forget she is not even a mutant and she has the ability to kick some mutant butts. She seems to be one of the best S.H.E.I.L.D agents and probably the most known, non-Marvel fans would of herd of her name (due to the Iron Man film) It is quite shocking that she intimidates some actual mutants, but this is of course because if her amazing fighting skills. Swaying off subject, she is also one of the prettiest Marvel characters; I am a bit surprised that she couldn’t pull better men. It’s a bit of a shame, I think she is a good Marvel character but she doesn’t really stand out for me. |
