Nerd War! #13

It’s a Nerd War! To reiterate Nerd War is our competition of who should be named best Marvel character of 2011/12! Each week one of us will nominate a character and give you a summary of their origins, love interests, and personality. The person who nominated the character will be on the For side for the character to go through, where as the other person will be against! This is a debate – and only the best will survive! It doesn’t matter if the character is good or evil, human, mutate, alien, mutant or the Juggernaut. They just have to be a Marvel Character. But with loads of characters, it might be a long wait before we get to round two ;) .

This week X1 nominates Black Widow!

Origin: It was rumored that Natasha Romanoff (Natalia Romanova) was somehow related to the last ruling czars of Russia, but was never proven. Nothing else was known about her prior to World War II. Nazis set the building Natasha was in on fire in Stalingrad, and her mother threw her out the window to a Russian soldier before dying in the fire. The soldier’s name was Ivan Petrovitch, and he watched over Natasha for her entire life, to this day remaining by her side as her chauffeur. While under Ivan’s protection, many adversaries attempted to attack her. Baron von Stucker abducted Natasha and presented her to the Hand in Madripoor. There, she was to become their Master Assassin until Captain America, Logan, and Ivan saved her. As Natasha grew and matured, she proved to be an amazing athlete and scholar, while gaining distinction in the USSR as a ballerina. Eventually, she married Alexi Shostakov, a distinguished Soviet test pilot.

Love Interest: Natasha has fallen in love and been in relationships with the following men: Alexi Shostakov, Hawkeye, Daredevil (=FAIL) and Bucky Cap.

Personality: Natasha is a feisty Auburn (though she looks more like a red-head) with a bad-ass personality. She’s one of those women who will willingly kill you and not cry into her cornflakes. Saying that, Nathasha can come across as cold, and frankly, she’s a bit of a loner. But, you don’t wanna mess with this girl – she will cut YOU!

Powers and Abilitles: Natasha hasn’t got any special powers but she does have an artificially enhanced physiolgy: Peak Human Strength; Peak Human Speed; Peak Human Agility; Peak Human Reflexes; Peak Human Durability; Peak Human Senses; Peak Human Immune System; Extended Longevity.

 X1’s Opinion:  X2’s Opinion:
Nathasha is one of the best SHIELD agents that Marvel has ever created, in my opinion, she’s also one of the best reformed villains as well (just falling behind our favourite hussy Emma Frost). Black Widow is feisty, if you mess with her man – she will kill you, if you mess with her family – she will kill you, if you mess with her friends – she will kill you, and if you mess with her – she most definitley cut off your head and feed your guts to the animals. The thing that I like most about Natasha, is that she will kick your ass and not feel bad about it, she’s also pretty handy with a gun. She doesn’t need a man to protect her, her man needs her to protect him! Okay, I guess her love life hasn’t been the best, she’s had a string of me after her, but this chick doesn’t age! But then again, that doesn’t excuse her from dating the total frat boy Daredevil, I don’t fricking care if he’s fricking blind and that he fricking relies on his other senses, the guy is such an asshole! So, I’m sorry Nat, but I’m going to have to knock of a few points because of that repulsive relationship. Oh, I might have to knock of another point due to her relationship with Hawkeye, who happens to be an inconsiderate jerk! Sorry to break it to ya Nat, but you have pretty bad taste in guys. But, considering that, she can still kick your ass. With her sexy figure and sophisticated costume, she definitley gets points for bad-assery, the girl looks hot while fighting in a not too revealing suit!  She may not have any powers, but she is such a skilled Marvel character. As was mentioned, she is not scared to kill someone or to hurt someone; this does give her advantage as she won’t take forever to get the job done. With her love life being quite a puzzle I will have to drop some points off too, first of all who in their right mind would date Hawkeye (eurgh) Don’t get me started on Daredevil. I have to say I loved Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal, I thought she was a bad-ass Black Widow; the only problem was there was no Russian accent!
Anyway back to Natasha, she seems to be quite a professional girl but when it comes to it she can be quite funny. Luckily she is not scared of braking a nail or two. Don’t forget she is not even a mutant and she has the ability to kick some mutant butts. She seems to be one of the best S.H.E.I.L.D agents and probably the most known, non-Marvel fans would of herd of her name (due to the Iron Man film) It is quite shocking that she intimidates some actual mutants, but this is of course because if her amazing fighting skills. Swaying off subject, she is also one of the prettiest Marvel characters; I am a bit surprised that she couldn’t pull better men. It’s a bit of a shame, I think she is a good Marvel character but she doesn’t really stand out for me.

X1: For -7; Against –3.

X2: For-6; Against-4.

Natasha gets through to the next round – guess we’ll live to fight another Nerd War! *READ* She’s pointing a gun at our heads!

Nerd War! #12

This week’s nomination by X2 is Rogue!

Orgin: Her name is Anna Marie, but she doesn’t know her last name. Born in Mississippi into a hippy family , Anna Marie was a Rogue, she ran away from home in her teens. Rogue wasn’t able to touch people without hurting them and the annoying Rogue In X-Men: The Animated Series, made that very clear by saying it all the time! Having the villain Mystique as her stepmother lead her into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. A traumatizing moment for Rogue was when she absorbed Ms Marvel’s powers.

Love Interest: If only it was only Gambit… ahhh, But no Rogue sort of had a relationship with a boy called Cody who she then sent to hospital with the kiss of death 😉  And her relationship with Magneto shouldn’t even be mentioned … (Pukes)

Personality: At some points Rogue seems quite vulnerable, obviously she’s a Rogue, she’s a individual and just a super cool Mutant, she can make quite funny remarks especially towards the beloved Gambit. Don’t let the vulnerability fool you, because she will put you in a coma.

Powers and Abilities: Rogue has the power to absorb powers, emotions, memories, personality, physical abilities etc by touching you, before this used to be an uncontrollable power but now she has the ability to choose when to use it, so she is now able to touch. After absorbing Ms Marvel’s powers permanently Rogue has the ability to fly and Superhuman strength. Rogue also has the durability of a Superhuman. Rogue is able to fight quite well, apparently Gambit helped her, and she can speak Fluent-French, random but true.

 X1′s Opinion:  X2′s Opinion:
Do I really need to explain why Rogue should go through to the next round? No. But, to be democratic and let our viewers know that this truly isn’t a fix, I will explain. ROGUE IS FRICKIN’ AWESOME, IT’S ALMOST CRIMMINAL! Rogue is filled with sass, attitude and a whole lot of hottness. Yeah, yeah, I get that Rogue doesn’t have the best taste in guys *gives side eye to Magneto* but she sure knew how had to make Gambit fall in love with her. If only she justs married him! Rogues powers are just amazing! The more she learns about her powers, the more powerful she’ll be able to become! She’d could possibly become even more powerful than the Phoenix itself! Just think about it, a fight against Rogue and Phoenix – I’ve got my money on Rogue. What’s this nonsense about 90’s X-Men Rogue being annoying? She was the best Rogue! BTW I am totally hating X2 for that mental pic of Cable and Wade! I don’t think I have to explain anymore + I am really sick… First of all, it is Rogue, that is a good enough reason in itself, even though I do not love her as much as X1 I still know that Rogue is awesome, Her powers and abilities are just amazing even though they may be a big reason why she and Gambit are apart. Her romance with Gambit is the romance of Marvel history, forget about Magneto and that Cody boy. Rogue and Gambit are perfect for each other. The whole Rogue and Magneto fiasco was a slight disappointment (WTH were you thinking!) I love Magneto and everything but putting them together made as much sense as making Cable and Deadpool date. Rogue will  loose a few points for her relationship, but not too many, because of Gambit.. Rogue is an individual who stands out, she is someone who doesn’t really care about other people’s opinions, sometimes she can be a bit vulnerable, but I guess everyone has that in them. Rogue is involved in amazing story  lines and is known by so many non- Marvel fans. In every way possible this chick should get through to the next round. She is just so awesome it is unbelievable. If you search X-Men on Google her name shows up, in some occasions when you write Marvel on Google her name shows up. There are so many reasons for Rogue to get through and I support almost every single one.

X1: For – 9; Against – 1 .

X2: For- 8; Against- 2.

Rogue gets through to the next round – but a bet you worried then, right ;)?

This week’s nomination by X1 is Cable!

Origin: Nathan Christopher Charles Summers was born to Scott and Madelyne Pryor-Summers, as a weapon for Mr. Sinister to use against Apocalypse, and has been has been fighting in wars most of his life.  A powerful mutant telepath and telekinetic, Nathan was so powerful that his powers manifested at a young age.  After his mother died trying to sacrifice him, Nathan was infected by Apocalypse with the Techno-Organic Virus, that was set to kill him, until his father sent him into the future for treatment.  After being raised as the Askani’son, the one destined to kill Apocalypse, in the Clan Askani religion, Nathan became a hardened warrior and brilliant tactician.  After founding the Clan Chosen and loosing the war, Nathan began to travel through time.  Nathan eventually returned some fifteen years older than his father, calling himself Cable.

Love Interest: Cable has been married twice, but both of his wives have sadly been killed. From his first wife he had a son Tyler also know as Genesis – who has sadly died aswell. Cable even had a romantic relationship with Domino (something I think the editors never should’ve cut).

Personality: Cable is funny, cool, collective, patient and can sometimes be bad-ass! You forget that he’s actually a Summers with some Grey genetics. But he will kill you if you dare corss the line with his family (or if your Deadpool and won’t shut the heck up).

Powers and Abilities: Cable is a powerful mutant with extensive psinioc powers. Don’t believe here’s the list: Telepathy, telekenisis, time travel, cyberpathy, time travel, cybernetic functions and among that the Techno-Organci virus has given him Superhuman Endurance, speed, agility and dexterity.

 X1’s Opinion:  X2’s Opinion:
Cable is one of those comic book characters who just have a really hard life. It’s bad enough that his Dad ditched his Mum and she gave birth to him alone in a kitchen, but then he was infected with the Techno-Organic Virus. Seriously, sometimes I feel that Cable’s life is just one huge WTF moment. Moving on, Cable is so freaking awesome it’s hard to believe that he has Summers/Grey genetics! It’s so bloody impossible! I love that love/hate relationship that he has going on with Wade – I mean as patient Cable is, he probably strangled Wade everyday! Cable will travel through time and back, just to make sure that the future is a good to place to live in. He’s also the enemy of one of our other favourite time traveler – Bishop! And don’t we just love some Cable and Bishop brawling? Especially in those 90s X-Men toons…Bishop will go back and forth to hunt Hope down and chop of her head, and Cable will go back and forth to stop Bishop doing that. I really shouldn’t explain why Cable deseves to go through to the next round…But does X-Sanction in 2012 prove a reason?  His past is sad and as X1 said a huge WTF moment. But this dude makes me yawn, Of course Marvel fans will know him but what about the newbies they probably mostly know about : Jean Grey, Scott Summers, Wolverine (basically the main X-Men ) but they do not really know about Cable. Maybe this is because those characters which I mentioned before are in films. But In my opinion the characters which are in the films are probably most worthy of the ‘Best Marvel character’ title (excluding Jean). I do not really see Cable’s awesomeness I just think of him as a average mutant in Marvel. Of course his origin boosts him up as it is a awesome one. Come on someone being 15 years older than there father is really cool. At least he is not like his father. Cable has a really cool personality and it is fun to see him in X-men animated series, especially when Bishop is in the picture, there relationship gains Cable a few more points. I know this is irrelevant but it his mother was a clone of Jean but she was much prettier.Cable doesn’t really deserve the title but he is a cool character.

X1: For – 9; Against 1.

X2: For – 4; Against 6.

Cable goes through to the next round 😀

Nerd War! #10

This week X2 nominates Gambit! (Finally cries X1!)

Origin: Gambit was abandoned at birth due to his in-human eyes, he was stolen from the hospital by thieves and raised by them. Gambit was taught about thievery. Gambit also married to unite the thieves with the assassins but the brides brother disapproved. Remy helped Storm and she repaid him by making him join the X-men!

Love Interest: The Wonderful… Rogue! The best marvel couple… EVER! (he married Bella Donna Boudreaux , thank Marvel that didn’t work out!)

Personality: Hilarious! This guy knows when to make a joke. He is a bit of a flirt, and definitley knows how to look after a woman. He is also quite romantic. Remy has a side of wit but he is quite a dumb-head.

Powers and Abilities: Remy can charge objects with kinetic energy, and when he does so he comes up with many cheesy phrases. He uses a deck of cars as his ‘Objects’ and obviously caries on with his cliche phrases. He also can fight really well, especially when he has his metal stick thingy with him.

X1′s Opinion: X2′s Opinion:
Let me just get something straight, Gambit is probably the hottest guy in the comic book genre – DC and Top Cow included. Hottness aside, Gambit is a witty, flirtatious, naughty bad boy who has a HUGE following. He’s had his off moments – his marriage to Belladonna was a huge NO, NO, but thankfully that ended. Gambit’s life has basically been one big turmoil, you can’t exactly say this guy’s lucky, I mean Sinister just wouldn’t leave him alone! And he was turned into freakin’ DEATH! He even tried to kill ROGUE! Luckily, a part of him knew that Rogue is the love of his life at that prevented him in killing her. As X2 pointed out most Marvel characters loose points for their confusing and sometimes sickening love lifes, but Remy gains points for his! Gambit and Rogue would probably be the best couple in the Marvel Universe, if Rogue wouldn’t stop dumping him for creepy old men, or clones of creepy old men! Don’t worry Remy, we’re chearing you on, Rogue better come around!! Gambit’s powers are pretty awesome, you see Gambit makes ‘tings go boom, non? But Gambit’s powers would be even more awesome if Sinister didn’t take out part of his brain. Gambit HAS to go through to the next round. No doubt. I am just going to start this of by saying, Gambit is one of the best looking Marvel characters and he has got his smooth accent to go with it. He also is in the best Marvel couple ever, so he could also get the title of ‘Best Marvel character ever’ Other than his looks Remy has amazing powers which could get him very far in a X-Men training session. Remy has been involved in many crazy story lines and never seems to fail on making us laugh. His catch-phrases may be cliche but they are also quite amazing and very unique, he doesn’t say the same think over again (Gives side eye to Wolvie: Bub) Gambit’s intelligence lets him down a little. Normally with these Marvel characters it is always the love interest that is disappointing but when it comes to Gambit the love interest boosts him up to top 5 marvel Characters. His relationship with Rogue is legendary and only true Marvel fans know it (that’s Marvel fans not the film fans which misguide the newbies) The whole deck of cards scenario, makes me want to play cards every single day. I do not really have anything else to say, Gambit defiantly dissevers the title. He is just so cool. Well Done Remy .. from Thief to Legend.

X1: For – 10; Against – 1

X2: For – 7; Against -3

Gambit goes through to de next round…NO! It’s not because he married us both – *shifts eyes nervously*.

Nerd War! #9

This week X1 nomintates Emma Frost!

Origins: Born into a wealthy family from Boston, Emma hasn’t had it so easy. Father is a pr*ck, unfaithful ass, Mum’s a freaking psycho, brother is suicidal (and gay) and her two sisters are mega-bitches. Emma  finally has enough of their attitude and splits. However, things don’t get  much better. Emma and her boyfriend are kidnapped by the mob and subsequently  the boyfriend is killed, so what does Emma do? Takes the ransom money from the mobsters and enrolls herself in college. FIERCE!

Love Interest: The wet blanket that is Scott Summers = FAIL!

Personality: Emma is a witty and shrewd b*tch. She’s not afraid to have a mind affair with your husband and taunt you about it just to make you go crazy (gives side eye to Jean Grey)! But Emma also has a caring side when it comes to her students, she will NOT let you hurt them! Emma’s also not afraid to b*tch slap you back into reality when she needs to!

Powers and Abilities: A powerful telepath (her powers are on the same level as Prof), Emma can read minds, speak   telepathically, mind control, paralysis, possession, hypnosis, induce pain,   mental blasts and mental affairs. She also developed a second mutation of   turning her skin into organic diamond which renders her resistant to heat and   cold with enhanced strength and durability. She is also a potential telekinetic. She’s also super intelligent!

 X1’s Opinion:  X2’s Opinion:
Emma Frost is defintley worthy of the mantle of “Best Marvel Character of 2011/12” she’s Emma Grace Frost for frick sake! I guess this isn’t really helping, all that I’m saying, but Emma is just so brilliant! Yeah, her origin is a bit medicore, but hey, at least she makes up for it by being one mega-bitch who’ll have a mind affair with your husband! Okay, okay, she loses points when it comes to this romance with the biggest wet blanket on the planet – Scott Sumners, sorry Summers (X-Men: Evolution moments flashed in my head! Avalanche was just so RAD!). Obviously that automatically makes her lose points, I thought Emma could do better than to get together with Jean Grey’s left overs! Emma isn’t one to die often, but you know since it’s Emma, if she does die she has to go out in STYLE! In Murder At the Mansion Emma was shot with a Diamond Bullet in her Diamond form, and completely shatters, obviously the blame fell onto Jean Grey’s shoulders as she had just found out about Emma’s little mind games with husband Scott. But, to our surprise, we find out that it was actually Esme – Emma’s clone daughter – who shot her! She obviously gains more points for that awesome storlyline! That ungrateful b*tch! I also like the idea that Emma is a reformed villain who took part in one of the BEST X-Men storylines EVER!!! The Dark Phoenix Saga – In which we see Emma playing one bad-ass villainess, frankly she kind of scared me in those issues. To top it all of, Emma is intellectually gifted and can show you whose boss in a Pop Quiz!  Emma Frost does deserve the title, she is smart, sneaky and she will be a b*tch when she needs to. This girl is an amazing telepath ( the same power levels as my beloved Charles) and she adds class to it, she even makes the ” Wet Blanket” (as X1 says) Scott Summers look kinda cool. Yes she may dress like a Slut but she is amazing enough to get away with it. It is true that this chick is in the best story lines ever. Emma’s ability to turn diamond form is incredibly awesome and unique. Frost definitley has a sense of humor and she is a one to laugh at. How many men has Emma been with? I have no idea, it seems she likes having flings. But hey, that’s not a problem because when someone is as awesome as her they can do anything. Emma isn’t scared of stealing other peoples men or even flirting with older men (Magneto) she can do her own thing and people just end up with there mouths hanging wide open. She doesn’t have a bland personality and she knows how to finish with a BANG. Emma’s story line is filled with twist and turns and many shocking, or just hilarious moments. It is also very good that she is a reformed villain because if she was still a villain the goodies would be in deep trouble. Thank God , Emma isn’t like any of the movie portrayals other wise I would think her to bland and completely a waste of time.Emma’s presence is grand and many mutants look up to her, she can boss anyone around without having a slight fraction of fear in her.Emma Frost rules the Marvel world. FULL STOP.

Nerd War! #8

This week X2 nominates Captain America:

Origin: Steve Rogers was born into a poor Irish family, both his parents died before he made it to 20 years of age. Rogers tried to get into the Army after being scared of things he had seen and heard, but they thought him to weak and they rejected him. But he was offered to be part of an experiment, which literally changed his life. This experiment gave him the body of a god, and the strength of some super strong dude. He was trained and a few months after his training he was given an assignment. He met Bucky Barnes and they became partners. When Rogers died( 😦 ) Bucky took his place of Captain America. Lucky guy…

Love Interest: Roger was with Sharon Carter fell deeply in love after crossing paths many times. He realized he loved Sharon’s sister ‘Peggy’ during the war (awkward)

Personality: Well he was brave in many ways, he let some dude experiment on him! Is that not a scary thing to do. He seems quite mature and friendly. There is not really much to say about his personality.

Powers and Abilities: Rogers has no super-human powers, but the Super-Soldier Serum and “Vita-Ray” treatment changed him from being a weak frail boy to a perfect human being. His strength,  agility, speed, reflexes, durability, healing and endurance are at the highest point of human potential. Rogers is also very good at fighting due to all his training. His accuracy is almost perfect, so you better run fast if he is aiming to shoot you. His famous shield is there to protect him with it’s bulletproof ability.

X2’s Opinion: For   X1’s Opinion: Against
There is literally nothing much you can say about Rogers, just that he is the perfect definition of a hero. Other than the fact that he is good looking there’s nothing completely shocking about him. He is a friendly person but he seems to have quite a boring personality. I am beginning to miss the excitement of Moonstone’s life. Only the best Marvel characters get films about them or films with them. And Captain America managed to do that, I know he only recently did so but it still does count. Luckily Rogers’ love life isn’t as messed up as some other Marvel charters, not mentioning names or anything (Magneto and Charles) but that is also a down side as it just makes him seem kinda … boring. He can aim a gun which is a good thing and would of defiantly came in handy. It is quite sad that he died but It wasn’t really the end of the world. I think I was more sad about Magneto’s daughter’s then his, what am I saying his death was definitely sadder. He is a legend and that is mostly what matters, so good on him. GO CAPTAIN AMERICA!
Also good on him for actually having the spirit to do all of this. Steve if you can here me… WE FIRETRUCKING LOVE YOU MAN, I JUST WISH YOU WAS MORE INTERESTING! Most people know who Captain America is, but they may not know his name but he still does deserve to go to the next round because he was a Legend and that does matter (as I said before)
Is it just me or does it seem like X2 thinks Steve Rogers is still dead? Steve Rogers is alive and kicking and currently holds the mantle of Captain America (after Bucky’s tragic yet useless death). Steve’s an all rounder, he has a great personality (he’s not boring at all!) and is only loyal to one thing – the dream. Saying that though, Cap is loyal to the AMERICAN dream and none other. Don’t get me wrong, there’s the nothing wrong with the guy being a star-spangled patriot, it’s just us Brits feel kind of left out that our Cap is not as big as your Cap. Steve’s love life is kind of awkward in my opinion, although they’ve changed it so Peggy’s now Sharon’s aunt, it still seems strange. You got hand it to him though, Steve really knows how to kill two birds with one stone! X2 has completely forgotten about the fact that after Steve “died” in his first origin, he was really in suspended animation – doesn’t this sound about familiar? I think Rogers gets points for being so damn awesome, in the Fear Itself storylien, but loses some due to his unorginal storyline! I mean I am so tired of the whole – “Parents died before I even reached my 20s” angle. But, then again, you can never really say no to the damn good American Patriot. About X2’s remark on Moonstone – I TOLD YOU SHE SHOULD’VE GOTTEN THROUGH! Maybe Steve needs a little bit more crazy in his life to spice him up a notch! Then again he is loyal to nothing but the American Dream (don’t believe me, check out his costume!).

X1: For- 7; Against 3

X2: For-8; Against-4

Captain America get’s through to the next round! Now come and over and protect us from Moonstone!

Nerd War! #7

This week X1 nominates Moonstone:

Origin: Karla Sofen grew up in the mansion of a   Hollywood producer as the daughter of the producer’s butler. After her father   passed away, her mother had to work three jobs to put Karla through college.   Instead of being appreciative, Karla decided to ever end up like her mother   and always put her own needs first. After becoming a psychiatrist, Karla   entered the criminal world as an aide to Doctor Faustus. Learning of the   original Moonstone, Lloyd Bloch, she became his psychologist and manipulated   him into rejecting the power, which she then took for herself. Karla murdered   her own mother by suffocating her and setting her house on fire. She also   liked to convince her depressed patients to kill themselves while she watched…Twisted much?

Love Interest: Herself? Karla only seduces people for personal gain. She did have a thing for Daken, but that was while she was under his phernome control.

Personality: B*tches be crazy. And we love crazy b*tches. Although   Karla occasionally went to the side of good, she’s inherently evil. She only   cares about her own agenda and she manipulates her depressed patients into killing them so she can watch! When I’m bored I just read comic, watch some 90’s X-Men or do homework. This woman seriously needs a straight jacket.

Powers and Abilities: With the powers of the Moonstone, a Kree gravity stone, Karla can manipulate gravity, fly, fire photon blasts,  generate light and has super strength, speed and durability. She is also  intangible and can control molecules on a minor level. When she absorbed a   second gravity stone for a short while, she was able to manipulate matter, create force fields, generate mini black holes and transport objects through   dimensional rifts. If she is separated from her original Moonstone for more than 72 hours, she will die. She also uses her extensive knowledge in   psychology to manipulate others around her.

X1’s Opinion: For X2’s Opinion: Against
I’m surprised that this chick has a MD in psychology! What this woman needs is a psychiatrist and a straight jacket! Don’t get me wrong, I love crazies (see Scarlet Witch) so this woman is definitely in my good books of villains. Moonstone is a villain how I just love, she’s conceited, arrogant, selfish, murderous and will do ANYTHING for power. Moonstone dug up her mothers grave to retrieve her Moonstone when Ms Marvel put them there and offered her a choice, turn good or die – Karla took neither choice and stuck to the way she was HARSH! Sometimes Karla does make me want to have a bath in rubbing alcohol, this girl has used so many people for her own personal gain it’s disgusting! Don’t think this b*tch will ever turn good, she’s bad to the very last bone in her body – THIS WOMAN KILLED HER OWN MOTHER SO SHE WOULDN’T SEE WHAT SHE WAS TURNING INTO! I have three words to finish off this debate…Psy.Cho.Path.

Yes I love crazies, but this chick takes crazy too far.  What type of person would watch their patients kill themselves that is a huge no no, all of her qualities are bad, and not best Marvel character worthy. Her origin is also quite boring. Moonstone is not as popular as other Marvel characters. There is nothing that makes Karla best Marvel Character worthy. The only thing that seems cool is the fact she was crazy enough to kill her own mother, but that is also something that makes her seem crap. I do have to admit her powers are cool, and she is super strong so yh this does gain her some points for me, less craziness would also gain her some points 😀 Power greedy Psycho, Yup there is no way she is getting through to the next round.

Nerd War! #6

Origin: Magneto’s origin goes back to Germany, or should I say Max Eisenhardt’s origin. Magneto was attracted to a young gypsy called Magda. Magneto had been around many violent people and watched many of his family members be beaten. Magneto had also lived in Poland; this is where he was put into a concentration camp. Magneto’s family were executed there. Magneto escaped the camp with Magda and they lived together for years and even had a child together: Anya. Magneto had seen how cruel humans were to people who were different from them and he would never forget it. Magneto lost many people including Anya, who he saw, burn to death in front of him. His anger led him to killing many people and Magda ran away and gave birth to Wanda and Pietro.

Love Interest: Magda was Magneto’s first love, with three children together one of which deceased. Magneto was interested in many characters in Marvel. To name some: Isabelle someone he met when working for the CIA, Even Jean Grey at one point but she wasn’t interested. Emma Frost on the other hand tried to seduce Magneto but he wasn’t interested however in the future they are seen as a couple. And of course the revolting love interest with Rogue. Some fans even say Charles is his lover but of course that is not true.

Personality: Magneto is: Smart, Strong-headed, Stubborn, Brave and Powerful.

Powers and abilities: Magneto … well there’s a hint in the name. Magneto’s power gives him the ability to master all magnetic forces. He can lift himself from the air and protect himself with a magnetic field. Manipulating magnetic metals is also part of his powers. Magneto also has the ability to fire bursts of magnetic or even electrical energy. Magnetism is Magneto’s main power but he can also manipulate some electrical things as they are very similar. Some even say that telepathic abilities have been shown by Magneto and even astral projection. Magneto has the ability to be imaginative and is able to come up with many ideas; he also is very smart which backs his ideas. Magneto has a helmet which is specifically made to protect his mind from telepaths so with this helmet he has the ability to block them.

X2’s Opinion: For X1’s Opinion: Against
Magneto had a troubled past probably with many bad memories, so he had a very good reason for being a villain at one point. Magneto should go through because many think he could be one of the strongest mutants in Marvel therefore leading him to being the best. Magneto is a very interesting character and there has never been a time when his storyline has bored me. His character also shows us how someone who was bad can turn good. Magneto can seem very serious and wise, but when he makes a joke it seems to be a funny one. Magneto has almost always been the leader of the villains showing he is worthy of being the strongest and the best. The fact he watched his daughter burn to death 😦 is extremely sad and just makes you feel sorry for the dude. Most of the time the love life is the thing that annoys me but with Magneto it doesn’t affect me, just the whole Rogue and Magneto scenario (eww) X-men is really popular comic and wherever there is X-men there is Magneto .Magneto gets quite a lot of female attention there obviously is something special about him. Magneto deserves to go through, his story is emotional, his powers are extraordinary and he just has a grand essence. Magneto is a great Marvel character and plays a huge part in the lives of the X-Men. But he was an even better character when he was a villain. I can’t see him as a hero – I can only see him as a human hating terrorist, who likes to rip sentinels apart! That’s not the point, the point is Magneto is a great character, but I don’t think that he’s done something THAT amazing or shocking to deserve the title of best Marvel character of 2011/12. (If you want some crazy Magneto spawn to win you’ve got the Scarlet Witch.) Power wise Magneto is brilliant, and he gets a lot respect for being one of the few people who can actually beat Wolverine (he ripped his admantium skeleton out) and for just being an overall bad ass. We’ve got him to thank for when it comes to Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Polaris – it seems like most of his kids are crazies! I love Magneto he is my favourite villain – but hands off Rogue! Honestly Mags, you’ve actually made it harder for her to choose between you and Gambit! Your old enough to be her father (though you look like a seriously young man, but that’s not an excuse!) it’s gross. You loose so many points for messing with my man Remy. Therefore anyone who messes with Remy doesn’t deserve the title! Hmph!

Magneto goes through to the next round! Well, we just have to put him up against someone interesting!

Update about Nerd War

Dear Marvelites,

You have probably noticed, by now, that Nerd War hasn’t been posted in some time. The reason of this is because X2 has gone on holiday to Europe and has no internet accesses, so therefore Nerd War will be postponed until the 10th of August. We’ve pushed the publication date till Sunday because it will be more practical for Nerd War to be uploaded then.

Please bear with us! You can trust that we won’t let you down again (until next Summer when X2 goes on holiday again!)

Nerd War! #5

It’s a Nerd War! To reiterate Nerd War is our competition of who should be named best Marvel character of 2011!

This week’s random nomination by X1 is Spider-Man

Origin: We all know Spidey’s origin, but here it is again. Peter Parker’s parents died, when Pete was just a kid. Peter was raised by his aunt and uncle, May and Ben Parker. When Peter was still in High School, he was bitten by a radioactive spider. This soon gave Parker superhuman strength and abilities. One day, Ben Parker was murdered by a car thief, Peter felt that it was his fault, because he had perviously let the thief go – so he hunted him down and kill his sorry butt. From that day on Peter became our beloved neighborhood Spider-Man, and said these precious words, “With great power, there must also come great responsibility.”

Love interest: Peter’s still only 22, and a major geek, but that doesn’t stop him loving plenty of women! His current girlfriend is Carly, but he’s had relationships with The Black Cat, Mary Jane Watson, and others. But, we all know, that however much MJ may seem like Spidey’s one true love, he’s still pining for the deceased Gwen Stacey!

Personality: Spider-Man, is a cool, collected, and suave geek/nerd. Yeah, I think that sums him up :).

Powers and Abilities: Spider-Man possesses spider-like abilites and powers. His powers include: wall-crawling, superhuman strenghth, superhuman speed, superhuman stamina, superhuman durability, superhuman agility, superhuman equilibrium, superhuman reflexes, regenerative healing factor, foreign chemical resistance and let’s not forget that all importain spider sense. (Which is so overrated!) Not only does Peter have all those powers, but he has always had strong force of will, and he is one genius! He even invented the webshooters, which he wears in wrists, the webs are made out of some strong nylon – damn this guy is smart. To top that all off, he’s a master acrobat and combatant – just in case you do anything to pee him off.

X1’s Opinion: For

X2’s Opinion: Against

Almost everyone loves Spider-Man, after all he is our friendly neighbourhood spider! Peter Parker really deserves to go through to the next round, because he’s one of the most renowned comic book characters ever. The title “The Amazing Spider-Man”, just happens to be one of Marvel’s best selling comics! Not only is Parker super awesome and strong, he is very intellectually minded, and he’s extremely good looking – that always get’s extra points from me. He’s funny, and cracks jokes, he was the late Johnny Storm’s best friend! These guys didn’t start off well, but then they became BFF’s for life (well not really.) and Spidey took his place in the Future Foundation. The only thing that seems to tick me off, is Spider-Man’s love life. He’s always either pining after or in a relationship with MJ, as we see in the future, when Black Cat comes back from Paris – Spider-Man’s gotten married to Mary-Jane – ouch! Parker just can’t make up his mind – because he’s probably still in love with dead ex-girlfriend Gwen Stacey. Spidey’s love life, loses him some points with me, but not enough for him to fail! Spider-Man has to get through to the next round!

A. Spider-Man isn’t extremely good looking (and no I’m not basing my opinion on the movie) and B. Being good looking doesn’t make you have the ability to be the best Marvel character. Peter isn’t really that spider like, yh he can climb up walls but he can’t even make webs without creating some web shooting device (which is cool) but it’s not actually an ability. Also his abilities are also quite crap, and even though he has super strength he seems really puny: where are his muscles?! And so what if he was Johnny Storms friend that doesn’t really mean anything, like would me being some ones best friend make me amazing? And yes what is wrong with his love life can he not just settle on one person. Spider-Man is a key character in Marvel; he seems to be one of the main figures of it. When the word Marvel is heard many people think of Spidy straight away this obviously gives him some importance. I think Spider-Man just deserves to go through to the next round.
